Entrelazado Perpetuo / Perpetual Intertwining

Monumental paintings and sculptural installations examine shelter as a structure, a source of protection and a shifting idea of home. The exhibition runs September 10 through October 31 at DVCAI’s gallery inside the Monsignor William Barry Library at Barry University, with an opening reception and walkthrough on Thursday, September 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. Presented by Diaspora Vibe Cultural Arts Incubator, the show is curated by Rosie Gordon-Wallace with guest curator Tomas Vu.

Born in Argentina and raised across Argentina, Brazil and the United States, Miami-based artist Leandro Vazquez draws on transnational experience to explore movement, adaptation and resourcefulness. Using unconventional materials and large-scale forms, Entrelazado Perpetuo / Perpetual Intertwining considers how artworks continue to change through their relationship with surrounding spaces, materials and viewers.

Vazquez earned a BFA from New World School of the Arts and has exhibited at the Museum of Art and Design at Miami Dade College, Fredric Snitzer Gallery, Diaspora Vibe Gallery and Deering Estate. Admission is free with advance RSVP required. The gallery follows Barry University library hours and will be closed Monday, October 12.
