Exhibition Opening Reception: Featuring Pepe Mar

Pepe Mar transforms The Bass Rotunda into an immersive installation shaped by memory, migration and belonging. Opening Thursday, March 18, El Gato Negro draws inspiration from a nightclub from the artist’s childhood in Mexico, using the setting as a point of departure for an imagined world of crossings, encounters and community.

Blending personal experience with invented histories, Mar creates a layered environment that reflects on the people and places that shape identity. The opening reception offers visitors an early look at the exhibition in The Bass’s Miami Beach galleries.

Admission is free with RSVP, with entry available on a first-come, first-served basis due to limited capacity.
