Exhibition Reception: Deering Contemporary Phase 1

Artistic responses to the natural environment connect works by Deering Estate’s 2026 artists in residence. A free reception Sunday, December 6 at Richmond Cottage marks Deering Contemporary Phase 1: Aquatics, Miniatures and Microscopics, an exhibition shaped by the relationship between creative practice and the estate’s ecological resources.

Participating artists are Andrea Clement, Deryn Cowdy, Giannina Dwin, Tony Fernandez, Natalia Garcia-Lee, Debora Rosenthal, Lissette Schaeffler, Rebekah Shoaf and Aida Tejada. The residency supports artistic experimentation alongside environmental research, advocacy and preservation. Their work is on view on Richmond Cottage’s first floor from November 20 through March 31, 2027.

The afternoon reception includes a complimentary house tour at 2:30 p.m. Admission is free, with advance RSVP required through Eventbrite. Reservations are available online only.
