Faena Jazz Series: Sammy Figueroa & Aymée Nuviola

Afro-Cuban rhythms, Latin jazz percussion and Cuban vocal traditions come together in an intimate concert at Faena Theater. Taking place Wednesday, October 21, the second performance of the 2026–27 Faena Jazz Series pairs percussionist Sammy Figueroa with Grammy and Latin Grammy Award-winning Cuban singer Aymée Nuviola for an evening devoted to Latin jazz.
Figueroa’s wide-ranging career has included work with Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins and other leading jazz artists, while Nuviola draws on Cuban son, bolero, timba and jazz in a career spanning performance, songwriting and acting. The two previously collaborated on Figueroa’s Searching for a Memory (Busco Tu Recuerdo), which reimagines songs associated with his father, bolero singer Charlie Figueroa, through contemporary Latin jazz arrangements and received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Jazz/Latin Jazz Album
The annual Faena Jazz Series runs from October 2026 through June 2027, presenting nine concerts at the Miami Beach theater. The season is produced and curated by Grammy-nominated producer and artist Rachel Faro.
