Indian classical music and global jazz meet in a performance by Grammy-nominated vocalist, flautist and composer Varijashree Venugopal, known as VARI. Presented Wednesday, April 7 at Faena Theater, the concert is the eighth installment of the 2026–27 Faena Jazz Series.
Known for treating the voice as an instrument, Venugopal draws on the techniques and melodic traditions of Indian classical music while working across jazz, improvisation and international collaborations. Her music moves fluidly between traditions, pairing intricate vocal technique with flute, composition and spontaneous musical exchange.
The annual Faena Jazz Series runs from October 2026 through June 2027 and is curated and produced by Grammy-nominated producer and artist Rachel Faro.
