Family Day on Aragon

Accessibility, creativity and new ways of experiencing art shape the September edition of Family Day on Aragon at the Coral Gables Museum. Taking place Saturday, September 19, the monthly family series draws inspiration from America Touched, America Seen, an exhibition created with Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired that explores art through touch, movement and imagination.

Designed for visitors of different ages and abilities, the day combines tactile art-making, adaptive sports, storytelling and accessible games. Activities include:

• 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Tactile arts and crafts led by teen organization The Museum Project, inspired by America Touched, America Seen
• 11 a.m.-noon and 1-2 p.m.: Voy, Dribble, Shot: Blind Soccer, featuring demonstrations, Q&A and hands-on drills with U.S. National Blind Soccer Team member Oseas De Leon
• 3-4 p.m.: Blind Storytime with Braille books and educational activities provided by Miami Lighthouse Academy
• 3-5 p.m.: Chess Club & Games with standard and tactile chess sets, Braille dominoes, Braille UNO, low-vision playing cards and other accessible games
• Throughout the day: Self-guided scavenger hunts connected to La Vida es un Carnaval de Barranquilla and America Touched, America Seen

The program is presented in collaboration with Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired and highlights different ways people see, move, communicate and engage with art and one another.
