Farm-tastic Saturdays

Hands-on farm work and community volunteering come together each Saturday at Fertile Earth Worm Farm in Homestead. Farm-tastic Saturdays invites participants of all ages to spend time outdoors helping with farm tasks, learning about the land and contributing volunteer or community-service hours.

The free, kid-friendly program meets weekly inside the farm’s shadehouse before volunteers head out to work together on the property. Participants are encouraged to bring water, wear closed-toe shoes and use sun and insect protection.

Fertile Earth Worm Farm focuses on keeping organic material out of landfills through food recovery, animal feeding and composting with worms and microbes. Registered participants receive a Friday update confirming the following day’s volunteer session or announcing any weather-related cancellation.
