FIU Music Festival: Laura León and Robert Koenig
Oct 24, 2025
From: 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM
An evening of Spanish lyric tradition unfolds as Cuban coloratura Laura León is joined by acclaimed collaborative pianist Robert Koenig for a program of operetta, zarzuela and Spanish-Cuban song.
León, known for a voice that “sparkles, seduces and languishes,” brings her commanding range and expressive presence to works that showcase both vocal virtuosity and emotional nuance. She has performed leading roles such as Norina in Don Pasquale and the Queen of the Night in Die Zauberflöte, and as a winner of the Zarzuela de las Americas Competition, she is uniquely suited to this repertoire.
Canadian pianist Robert Koenig is a much sought-after collaborative artist and chamber musician with an international profile. He has appeared at distinguished venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the Kennedy Center and the Concertgebouw, and has performed with artists including Sarah Chang, Hilary Hahn and Emanuel Ax.
This concert is co-presented by Friends of Chamber Music of Miami, Inc. (FOCM) and serves as the opening event of the 2025 FIU Music Festival, in partnership with the FIU Wertheim School of Music.
FIU Music Festival: Laura León and Robert Koenig takes place Friday, October 24 at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center.
