FIU Music Festival: Piano Fireworks-Weber’s Musical Legacy

Two pianists explore the virtuosity, drama and lasting influence of Carl Maria von Weber in a program of solo and duet works at The Wertheim. Taking place Friday, October 23, the concert is part of the 2026 FIU Music Festival lineup and features Lindsay Garritson and Ukrainian-born pianist Anastasiya Naplekova.
The program pairs music by Weber with works shaped by his influence, moving between individual showcases and performances for two pianists. Garritson has appeared at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center and has earned honors at international piano competitions, while Naplekova is a laureate of the Olga Kern, Hilton Head, Paderewski and Horowitz competitions.
Presented at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center, the concert highlights Weber’s lyrical writing, theatrical flair and technical brilliance while tracing the impact of his keyboard style across later generations.
