FIU Music Festival: Vincent Dubois and Marie-Andrée Joerger Duo

Pipe organ and accordion meet in an unusual chamber pairing as Vincent Dubois and Marie-Andrée Joerger perform at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center. Presented Tuesday, October 20, as part of the 2026 FIU Music Festival, the concert marks the duo’s first official U.S. tour together and features FIU’s Sydell Ida Wertheim Concert Organ.

Dubois, titular organist of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, joins accordionist Joerger for a program that moves from orchestral transcriptions to folk-inspired works and tango. Selections include Khachaturian’s Masquerade Waltz, Debussy’s Petite Suite, Fauré’s Dolly Suite, Poulenc’s Suite française and Bartók’s Romanian Folk Dances, along with Patrice Caratini’s La valse des crayons.

The program closes with the tango-inflected music of Richard Galliano and Astor Piazzolla, including Tango pour Claude, Invierno Porteño and La Muerte del Ángel. Across the program, the organ and accordion reveal contrasting textures, from expansive sonorities to more intimate and rhythmically agile exchanges.
