FIU Opera Theater: Alessandro Scarlatti’s Il trionfo dell’onore
Feb 12, 2027 - Feb 13, 2027
Daily through Feb 13, 2027
Starting: 7:30 PM
Romantic intrigue, mistaken identities and family complications drive Alessandro Scarlatti’s rarely staged Baroque comedy at FIU. FIU Opera Theater presents Il trionfo dell’onore on Friday, February 12 and Saturday, February 13 at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts as part of the 2026-2027 season. Set in 18th-century Pisa, the opera follows a web of flirtation, deception and shifting loyalties through music that balances comic momentum with lyrical elegance.
First performed in 1718, Il trionfo dell’onore is Scarlatti’s only surviving full-length comic opera. Its characters navigate romantic entanglements and social expectations in a story whose humor rests as much on human behavior as on theatrical convention.
Robert B. Dundas stages the production, with Juvenal Correa-Salas serving as music director and leading the FIU Opera Orchestra.
