FIU Piano Recital Series: Meeyoun Park & Matthew Gianforte
Jan 31, 2026
From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
A collaborative piano program highlights the expressive and orchestral possibilities of four hands and two instruments in a recital shaped by intimacy, virtuosity and shared musical dialogue. Duo pianists Meeyoun Park and Matthew Gianforte bring a wide-ranging program that emphasizes the piano’s capacity for both lyric subtlety and symphonic scale.
The repertoire moves from Schubert’s Fantasy in F Minor, known for its emotional depth and close interplay between performers, to Liszt’s Réminiscences de Don Juan, a technically demanding work that transforms operatic drama into pianistic spectacle. Barber’s Souvenirs adds wit and elegance, while Ravel’s La Valse closes the program with sweeping momentum and layered rhythmic intensity. Park and Gianforte, professors of piano at Murray State University, perform on concert Steinways in both four-hand and two-piano settings.
FIU Piano Recital Series: Meeyoun Park & Matthew Gianforte takes place Saturday, January 31 at the Herbert and Nicole Wertheim School of Music & Performing Arts.
