Flamenco y Folklórico

Flamenco and folklórico traditions from Spain and Latin America come together in a family program celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month at Pinecrest Gardens. Presented by Orchestra Miami on Sunday, October 11, Flamenco y Folklórico opens the organization’s Family Fun Series with dance performances and demonstrations designed for audiences of all ages.

The Flamenco Class from Armour Dance Theatre presents an introduction to the rhythm, movement and expressive qualities of Spanish flamenco. Las Paisanas, the folklórico dance team from Young Women’s Preparatory Academy, performs traditional dances from across the Hispanic world, highlighting regional customs, stories and cultural traditions.

The performance runs approximately one hour. Afterward, families can meet the performers while enjoying complimentary juice and cookies.
