Apr 02, 2026
Starting: 7:00 PM
A poetry reading and book celebration marks the release of a new collection by O, Miami founder P. Scott Cunningham. The Florida book release and reading for Self Portrait as the ‘i’ in Florida takes place Thursday, April 2 in the Mangrove Ballroom at Gramps Getaway in Key Biscayne.
The event celebrates Cunningham’s latest poetry collection, published by Autumn House Press and officially releasing April 7. A South Florida native and longtime Miami resident, Cunningham founded the O, Miami Poetry Festival and is the author of Ya Te Veo, selected by Billy Collins for the Miller Williams Poetry Series. His work has appeared in publications including POETRY, The American Poetry Review, Harvard Review, Gulf Coast and The Guardian.
Joining the evening program is poet and performer Darius Daughtry, founder and artistic director of Miami’s Art Prevails Project, whose work blends spoken word, theater and community engagement.
Part of the annual O, Miami Poetry Festival, the event highlights the festival’s mission of bringing poetry into everyday spaces across Miami-Dade County throughout April. Admission is free, with RSVP details to be announced.
