Forward Motion Festival at the Koubek Center
This event has passed.
The trailblazing Forward Motion Festival (FM5) returns for its fifth edition with 2 days of performances and conference events spotlighting accessibility in the arts. Following its showcase at the Miami-Dade County Auditiorium on March 23, the conference portion of the festival continues at the Miami Dade College Koubek Center on Sunday, March 24. Day 2 will feature workshops, including physically integrated ballroom dance and improvisation, along with a thought-provoking discussion titled 'Physically Integrated Dance Through my Lens,' led by Mark Travis Rivera. Performances and workshops will delve into the vast potential of dance, challenging perceptions, and celebrating diversity. The day will culminate with a community reception featuring light bites.
Presented by the groundbreaking Karen Petersen Dancers, the Forward Motion Festival is inclusive of all performers, with and without disabilities, and challenges artistic and societal perceptions of what defines physical beauty and beautiful movement.
