Friedrich Kunath in conversation with Klaus Biesenbach
Dec 01, 2026
Starting: 11:00 AM
Landscape, melancholy and the sublime connect German Romanticism with Friedrich Kunath’s contemporary practice. The artist discusses these influences with Klaus Biesenbach, director of the Neue Nationalgalerie and Berlin Modern, on Tuesday, December 1 at ICA Miami’s Expansion Space in the Miami Design District.
The Miami Art Week conversation examines Kunath’s longstanding engagement with painter Caspar David Friedrich and the ways American popular culture enters his work. It coincides with the opening of I’ll Romanticize This Later, Kunath’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States, featuring paintings, sculptures, installations and an interactive digital environment.
The program is presented by ICA Miami, DMINTI and Nassima Foundation.
