Geoffrey Holder: Black Magic Miami Art Week Reception
Dec 01, 2026
From: 08:30 PM to 10:30 PM
A public Miami Art Week reception offers an evening viewing of Geoffrey Holder’s paintings, drawings, collages and sculptures. Taking place Tuesday, December 1 at the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami, the gathering centers on Geoffrey Holder: Black Magic, the first museum survey devoted to his visual art.
Guest curated by Erica Moiah James, the exhibition brings together more than 60 works, many previously unseen by the public. Portraits, biblical allegories, landscapes and figure studies reveal the role of color, gesture and the human body in a practice that underpinned Holder’s achievements in dance, theater and film.
Public reception admission costs $10. Admission is free for MOCA members, residents of North Miami, Bal Harbour and SoLe Mia and VIP pass holders from partner art fairs. Eligible guests should present their membership card, resident ID or qualifying art fair pass at the door.
