A sharply comic portrait of social etiquette unraveling comes to the Adrienne Arsht Center as part of the Theater Up Close series. Running on select dates from November 5 through 22, God of Carnage is presented by Zoetic Stage and the Adrienne Arsht Center.
Written by Yasmina Reza and translated by Christopher Hampton, the play follows two sets of Brooklyn parents who meet to discuss a playground fight between their sons. What begins as a controlled conversation about responsibility and civility gradually breaks down into accusations, conflict and alcohol-fueled chaos.
The production opens Zoetic Stage’s 2026-27 Theater Up Close season, a series known for presenting contemporary works with local actors and creative teams. With its focus on manners, class tension and the fragility of polite conversation, God of Carnage remains a biting examination of how quickly public composure can collapse behind closed doors.
