Grow: Frost Symphonic Winds
Apr 26, 2026
Starting: 4:00 PM
A season-closing program of bold rhythms and cultural reflection takes the stage as the Frost Symphonic Winds present Grow. Led by Craig S. McKenzie with graduate conductor David Ramos, the ensemble performs a repertoire that explores resilience, renewal and the evolving human spirit through works rooted in tradition and shaped by change.
The concert opens with Guido López-Gavilán’s Obertura Bandida, a vibrant work infused with Cuban rhythmic drive and striking textures. Viet Cuong’s Deciduous follows, drawing inspiration from cycles in nature and the idea that growth often begins with release. Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F anchors the program with enduring English folk melodies, connecting past and present through familiar themes. The afternoon culminates in Alberto Ginastera’s electrifying “Danza Final” from Estancia, propelled by dynamic South American rhythms and kinetic energy.
Presented at Gusman Concert Hall at the University of Miami, the performance begins at 4 p.m. Admission is free.
