Haitian Independence Festival
Jan 04, 2026
From: 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A multidisciplinary celebration of Haitian independence brings folkloric dance, music and poetry together in a community-centered evening rooted in history and cultural pride. Led by longtime artist and educator Nancy St. Léger, the program emphasizes movement and storytelling as living expressions of Haiti’s resilience and creative legacy.
St. Léger, who has performed in South Florida for more than three decades, serves as artistic director and lead performer, presenting work grounded in traditional Haitian folkloric dance. She is joined by dancers Nedgine Pierre, Fabiola Registre and Oldine Pierre-Louis, members of her dance ensemble whose performances extend the evening’s focus on rhythm, ritual and collective memory.
The Haitian Independence Festival takes place Sunday, January 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex. Presented by Nancy St. Léger, the event marks the sixth annual edition of this celebration honoring Haiti’s independence through the arts.
