Here We Gather…All We Need, We Already Have: Closing Event
Mar 22, 2026
From: 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM
An afternoon of performances, workshops and interactive experiences marks the closing of a contemporary art exhibition at the Deering Estate. The ‘Here We Gather… What We Need We Already Have’ Closing Event takes place Sunday, March 22, inviting visitors to engage directly with artists featured in the Deering Contemporary 2026 exhibition.
Throughout the afternoon, participating artists will activate their installations with a series of immersive programs across the estate grounds. Activities include a guided meditation and yoga session led by Karla Kantorovich (bring your own mat), a durational performance by Maria Theresa Barbist at her installation, a hands-on sculpture-making experience with Evelyn Politzer using yarn and natural materials, and a ritualistic theater performance by Rebecca White in collaboration with musician Emily Peter.
Curated by Dainy Tapia, Here We Gather… What We Need We Already Have explores themes of resourcefulness, preservation and ecological awareness. Artists were invited to create works using materials gathered on site at the Deering Estate, incorporating natural elements such as leaves and branches alongside stories, sounds and memories connected to the landscape. The exhibition embraces the impermanence of organic materials, allowing some works to evolve or weather naturally over time.
Participating artists include Maria Theresa Barbist, Robert Chambers, Jessica (Yessica) Gispert, Mark Herrera, Karla Kantorovich, Yusimy Lara, Evelyn Politzer, David Valiente and Rebecca White. Admission to the closing event is free and open to the public.
