Select Days
Starting: 11:30 AM
Hands-on training in archival practices comes to the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater with workshops designed to help community groups preserve their histories. Created for churches, sororities, fraternities and local organizations, these two-hour sessions provide tools and strategies for protecting documents, photographs and memorabilia for future generations.
Participants will learn archival fundamentals, including best practices for organizing and storing materials, handling fragile items and documenting organizational histories. Each registration includes a starter kit with archival supplies to support continued preservation efforts.
History in Our Hands: Community Archiving Workshop 101 takes place on select dates—Saturday, November 8; Sunday, December 7; Saturday, January 10; and Sunday, February 8—at the Black Archives Historic Lyric Theater. Pre-registration is required, with attendance limited to two representatives per organization.
