“Joined at the Roots” Closing Reception

Fashion, art and heritage converge in a closing-night celebration that honors the cultural bonds between African American and Haitian American women.

“Joined at the Roots” Closing Reception takes place Friday, August 22 at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex, presented by MUCE (Miami Urban Contemporary Experience). Curated by MUCE and designer Ruth Louissaint of RL Design Studio, the event features a runway show highlighting Louissaint’s custom women’s wear, including pieces that blend textures, patterns and silhouettes to reflect strength, grace and cultural pride.

Community figures including Sandra Justice, Tico Armand and Angelique François will model the collection, set against the backdrop of the exhibition of the same name. Guests can explore the gallery’s visual art while experiencing a program that weaves together style, memory and shared legacy.
