Select Days
Wed: 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM | Sat: 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM
Get a hands-on look at how hurricanes form and what to do when one is approaching—all in a setting designed for sensory comfort and accessibility. This edition of the Just for Me program offers a quieter museum experience paired with an interactive activity that helps demystify severe weather and emergency preparedness.
Just for Me: Hurricanes 101 will take place on Wednesday, August 20 from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday, August 23 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science. During these sessions, sound and lighting levels throughout the exhibition areas will be adjusted to support guests with sensory sensitivities. A featured tactile activation will allow participants to simulate a safe, small-scale hurricane and learn how storms form, behave and impact communities.
The event also offers an opportunity for families to connect and share resources in a supportive environment. A Social Narrative is available to help visitors prepare for the experience, and activities are designed to be self-paced to ensure comfort and accessibility for all guests.
