Las Asombrosas Aventuras de Robinson Crusoe

Family activities, creative workshops and a theatrical adventure based on Robinson Crusoe bring the 40th International Hispanic Theatre Festival of Miami to a close at the Koubek Center. Presented Sunday, September 20, as part of the festival’s International Children’s Day programming, the free event features an afternoon of games and arts activities followed by a 5 p.m. performance from Miami’s Teatro Salvaje. Admission is free with RSVP.

Written by Victor Hugo Cortés and directed by Luciano Cortes, Las Asombrosas Aventuras de Robinson Crusoe stars Juan Bautista and Cote Composto. The family-friendly production follows a young Robinson after a shipwreck leaves him on a deserted island, where encounters with unexpected characters lead him to rely on creativity, resourcefulness and friendship while searching for a way home.

Schedule

• 2-3 p.m. – Face painting, stilt walkers and meal distribution
• 2:30-5 p.m. – Carnival games
• 3-5 p.m. – Painting, puppetry, dance and percussion workshops
• 5 p.m. – Las Asombrosas Aventuras de Robinson Crusoe

The program also serves as the closing celebration for the festival’s 40th anniversary, with live music and refreshments following the performance.
