Florida L'Opera & Zarzuela, with the support of Florida Grand Opera, presents a fully staged production of Gaetano Donizetti's comedic opera, L'Elisir d'Amore (The Elixir of Love). Taking place on Saturday, July 13 at the MDC North Campus' Lehman Theater, this engaging performance features an orchestra and choir under the musical direction of Dr. Jared Peroune and stage direction by Pablo Hernandez.
L'Elisir d'amore follows the story of Nemorino, a lovesick peasant, and Adina, a wealthy farm owner. Nemorino's attempts to win Adina's heart lead him to a chance encounter with the fraudulent doctor Dulcamara, who offers him a magical elixir to win her affection. However, a flamboyant soldier named Belcore also vies for Adina's hand, adding a layer of comedic rivalry to the plot.
The cast includes Lucia Panizza as Adina, Herman Díaz as Nemorino, Gabriel Menendez as Belcore, Alex Adams-Leytes as Dulcamara and Roxana Triana as Giannetta. The production boasts a full orchestra and choir under the baton of conductor Dr. Jared Peroune and stage direction by Pablo Hernandez. Audiences will be able to follow the original Italian libretto via English and Spanish supertitles.
