Portraits and biographical profiles trace a century of civic leadership in Coral Gables through the mayors who helped shape the city’s public life. Local Leadership, National Legacy: Coral Gables Mayors Across a Century is on view July 1 through August 16 at the Coral Gables Museum. Presented in collaboration with the City of Coral Gables, the exhibition marks 100 years since the city’s founding in 1925.
Installed in Gallery109, the exhibition highlights the men and women who have served as mayor of Coral Gables across periods of growth, challenge and civic transformation. Through individual portraits and biographical narratives, the presentation reflects on how local leadership has influenced the development of The City Beautiful and its sense of civic identity.
Presented in the context of the nation’s 250th anniversary, the exhibition connects Coral Gables’ municipal history to broader questions about public service and democratic participation. Rather than focusing only on national institutions, it invites visitors to consider how democracy is also shaped through local government, community stewardship and the leaders who serve close to home.
