Locust Locust Late @ The DiLL: Hacking Reality
May 21, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
Live-action role-playing, Discord chat and improvised movement come together in a workshop and performance exploring how digital systems shape everyday life. Locust Late @ The DiLL: Hacking Reality takes place Thursday, May 21 at Locust Projects. The event closes the 2025-26 season of Locust Late @ The DiLL, a monthly series featuring rotating workshops and performances.
Artist-educator Fereshteh Toosi leads the 7 p.m. workshop, Hacking Reality: exploring tech entanglements through play. Using short improvisational LARP exercises, participants will step into speculative scenarios shaped by surveillance, data clouds and offline zones, then discuss what these imagined systems reveal about lived experience. No coding or machine-building experience is required, and artists of all skill levels are encouraged to bring a laptop.
At 9 p.m., movement artist Roxana Barba presents secret group chat (beta test), a participatory performance activated through a live Discord chat projected in The DiLL. Audience messages become a score for improvised movement, with sound and visuals layered in real time. The free event is presented as part of the Knight Digital Innovation Initiative at Locust Projects, with complimentary refreshments available for guests 21 and older.
