Love Letters: Songs of Romance Devotion and Desire

Romantic art songs trace love from intimate devotion to longing and farewell in a recital performed by Florida Grand Opera’s Studio Artists. Presented Sunday, February 28 at First Miami Presbyterian Church, the free SongFest program Love Letters explores the many ways composers and poets have given musical form to desire, tenderness and loss.
The program features songs by Stefano Donaudy, Francesco Paolo Tosti, Reynaldo Hahn, Gabriel Fauré, Richard Strauss and others, drawing from Italian, French and German art-song traditions. Through these settings of poetry, the recital moves among serenades, declarations of love, moments of vulnerability and reflections on relationships remembered or imagined.
