Celebrate the culmination of a summer artist residency with an afternoon of conversation, community and contemporary art.
On Saturday, July 19, the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) at Miami Dade College hosts a reception for Miami-based artist Lucia Morales at MDC’s Kendall Campus Art Gallery. This event offers an opportunity to meet the artist, view work created during her residency, and learn more about the themes that shape her multidisciplinary practice.
Born in Lima, Peru, Morales draws from her cultural heritage and family’s roots in Ayacucho to explore ideas of identity, migration and memory. Her work spans painting, textiles, video and installation, often incorporating elements of Peruvian folkloric dance as a form of cultural preservation and resistance.
The reception is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served, and free parking is available in the campus lot adjacent to the gallery. Guests are welcome to engage in informal dialogue with the artist while viewing works developed during her time on campus.
