MOAD Artist Residency Featuring Lucia Morales
Through Aug 01, 2025
From: 04:00 PM to 07:00 PM
Explore the creative process of Miami-based artist Lucia Morales during a summer artist residency at Miami Dade College’s Kendall Campus Art Gallery.
Presented by the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD), the residency runs from June 11 to August 1 and offers the public a chance to engage with Morales as she develops new work exploring migration, identity and Andean cultural heritage. Visitors are invited to attend Open Studio hours on July 1 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and an Artist Reception on July 19 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Born in Lima and raised in the United States, Morales draws on her roots in Ayacucho and her practice of Peruvian folkloric dance to inform a multidisciplinary approach that includes painting, textiles, video performance and installation. Her work often reflects personal and collective experiences of displacement and cultural memory.
MOAD’s residency program supports artists with space and resources while encouraging dialogue between the artist, students and the broader community. The program is supported by the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the State of Florida Division of Arts and Culture, and the Knight Foundation.
