Mahj 101 with Mahj in Miami

American Mahjong basics take center stage in a two-part beginner class at the Miami Beach Botanical Garden. Mahj 101 meets Tuesday, October 6 and Tuesday, October 13, with instructor Abby Wyss of Mahj in Miami guiding participants through the fundamentals of the game.

The sessions cover how to read the National Mah Jongg League card, deal tiles, complete the Charleston and work toward building a winning hand. Designed for newcomers, the class emphasizes both strategy and the social side of play.

Wyss has played Mahjong for nearly a decade and has spent the past five years teaching children and adults. One ticket includes both classes. Current National Mah Jongg League cards will also be available for purchase from the instructor.
