Mainly Mozart Festival: Boyd Meets Girl
Jun 06, 2026
From: 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM
Cello and classical guitar meet in a wide-ranging chamber program that moves from Bach, Beethoven and Ravel to Brazilian music, contemporary works and Beatles arrangements. Presented by the Miami Chamber Music Society, the performance takes place Saturday, June 6 in The Gallery at The Betsy in Miami Beach. The concert is part of the 2026 edition of the Mainly Mozart Festival.
Boyd Meets Girl brings together Australian guitarist Rupert Boyd and American cellist Laura Metcalf in a New York-based duo known for its warm sound, stylistic range and close musical rapport. The ensemble has performed at venues and presenters including Caramoor, Newport Classical, Festival Napa Valley, the Morgan Library and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, with recordings released on Sono Luminus.
The program is shaped as a dialogue between tradition and reinvention, pairing works by J.S. Bach, Beethoven and Ravel with music by Jaime Zenamon, Chrystian Dozza, Caroline Shaw and Steven Goss. The recital also includes Brazilian-inflected selections, folk resonance and arrangements of The Beatles’ “In My Life” and “Eleanor Rigby.” Guests should enter The Betsy at 1433 Collins Avenue for access to The Gallery; valet parking is available through the hotel entrance at 1440 Ocean Drive.
