Jun 12, 2026
From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Poiesis Quartet pairs contemporary string quartet works with the dramatic sweep of Brahms in a program shaped around new musical voices and Romantic intensity. Presented by the Miami Chamber Music Society, the performance takes place Friday, June 12 at the Knight Center for Music Innovation at the University of Miami in Coral Gables. The concert is part of the 2026 edition of the Mainly Mozart Festival.
The ensemble has gained international recognition as winner of the 2025 Banff International String Quartet Competition and recipient of Chamber Music America’s 2026 Cleveland Quartet Award. Its program opens with works by Daniel Lasaga, Maya Irizarry Lambright, Max Lang and Calvin Ray Shawler, highlighting the quartet’s commitment to contemporary repertoire and collaborative approaches to new music.
After intermission, Poiesis Quartet is joined by pianist Marina Radiushina, Artistic Director of the Miami Chamber Music Society, for Brahms’s Piano Quintet in F minor, Op. 34. One of the composer’s major chamber works, the quintet brings the evening to a close with turbulent energy, lyrical breadth and Romantic drama.
