Mapping Miami with Buen Provecho Collective
Apr 09, 2026
From: 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
A participatory workshop invites residents to explore Miami through personal stories and creative mapping.
Mapping Miami with Buen Provecho Collective takes place Thursday, April 9 at the Doral Cultural Arts Center, with the session held on the venue’s open-air rooftop overlooking the city. This poetry-focused edition of the Mapping Miami project encourages participants to reflect on meaningful places and translate those connections into written responses.
Guided by O, Miami’s Z. Yasmin Waheed, attendees will create original poems inspired by their reflections. These pieces will later be added to an interactive digital map, where each location is paired with a unique, community-generated poem, forming a growing archive of Miami’s cultural memory.
Presented in collaboration with Buen Provecho Collective, the program combines public art and digital storytelling to document lived experiences across Miami-Dade County. The project is supported by the Knight Foundation’s Emerging Cities Champion Fellowship, 8 80 Cities and Buen Provecho Collective.
Part of the annual O, Miami Poetry Festival, the workshop reflects the festival’s mission of bringing poetry into everyday spaces throughout the community.
