Founded in 1972 by music educator Doug Burris at Miami Beach Senior High School, the group is recognized as the first high school rock ensemble in the United States. The student-led program brings together musicians, stage crew members and sound engineers, providing experience in live performance and concert production. Its alumni include professional musicians and sound engineers who began developing their skills through the ensemble.
