MIGF 2027 GuitART Festival: Carulli Guitar Duo
Jan 24, 2027
From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Classical-era works take on the colors of historic instruments as the Carulli Guitar Duo performs music by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven at FIU’s Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center. Held Sunday, January 24 as part of the annual Miami International GuitART Festival, the concert features guitarists Marco Battaglia and Mesut Özgen performing arrangements for two guitars by Ferdinando Carulli.
The duo will use two authentic early 19th-century instruments: a Gennaro Fabricatore guitar built in Naples in 1811 and a Giuseppe Marconcini guitar built in Ferrara in 1805. The period instruments offer a historically informed perspective on works by Joseph Haydn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven as adapted for the guitar duo repertoire.
The 2027 Miami International GuitART Festival runs January 22–31 with daily concerts, master classes, lectures and a Luthiers Expo. A festival pass is available for access to events throughout the 10-day program.
