MIGF 2027 GuitART Festival: Garcia Concerto Premiere
Jan 30, 2027
From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
A world premiere for guitar, strings and percussion anchors this Miami International GuitART Festival concert at FIU’s Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center. Held Saturday, January 30, the program features guitarist Mesut Özgen as soloist with the FIU Symphony Orchestra in Orlando Jacinto Garcia’s música para guitarra, cuerdas, y percusión, commissioned by the festival through a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.
The FIU Symphony Orchestra performs under the direction of conductor Javier Jose Mendoza. The program also includes original works performed by composers Federico Bonacossa and Özgen, adding solo and chamber perspectives to an evening centered on contemporary guitar composition.
The 2027 Miami International GuitART Festival runs January 22–31 with daily concerts, master classes, lectures and a Luthiers Expo. A festival pass is available for access to events throughout the 10-day program.
