MIGF 2027 GuitART Festival: João Luiz
Jan 23, 2027
From: 7:30 PM to 9:30 PM
Brazilian guitar traditions and contemporary classical repertoire come together in a solo recital by guitarist and composer João Luiz at FIU’s Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center. Held Saturday, January 23 as part of the annual Miami International GuitART Festival, the program features works by Heitor Villa-Lobos, Leo Brouwer, Ronaldo Miranda, Sergio Assad and Luiz himself.
Known for a wide-ranging approach to the classical guitar, Luiz brings Brazilian rhythmic influences into dialogue with Latin American and contemporary concert music. His festival residency also includes a January 22 lecture on Brazilian rhythms and a master class.
The 2027 Miami International GuitART Festival runs January 22–31 with daily concerts, master classes, lectures and a Luthiers Expo. A festival pass is available for access to events throughout the 10-day program.
