MIGF 2027 GuitART Festival: Nova Hispania

Early music from Spain and the Americas opens the annual Miami International GuitART Festival with a concert by Nova Hispania at FIU’s Herbert and Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center. Held Friday, January 22, the program features Cuban guitarist and singer Liamna Pestana and Venezuelan singer and cuatro player Luciana Kube in a historically informed exploration of music shaped by court, theatrical, popular and colonial traditions.
Nova Hispania approaches early repertory through period-informed performance while emphasizing its rhythmic, dramatic and vocal character. The program moves among musical settings associated with courts, theaters, salons and streets, tracing connections between Spanish traditions and their development across the Americas.
The concert launches the 2027 Miami International GuitART Festival, which continues through January 31 with daily concerts, master classes, lectures and a Luthiers Expo. A festival pass is available for admission to events throughout the 10-day program.
