Settle in for an evening of outdoor cinema and conversation spotlighting Haitian stories and voices at Lakou in Little Haiti. Monday Night Movies at Lakou takes place Monday, June 16, featuring a screening of The Creole Pig: Haiti’s Great Loss followed by a Q&A with director Dudley Alexis and film curator Jean H. Marcelin, co-founders of the Black Lounge Film Series.
Doors open at 6:00 p.m., with DJ Mackl setting the mood through curated music in Lakou’s open-air space. The film begins at 8:15 p.m., offering a powerful look at cultural memory and community loss, followed by a post-screening conversation exploring the film’s creation and impact.
This free event is open to all ages (under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian), with food and drinks available for purchase. Seating is limited, and free parking is available on site.
