Moonlit paddling on Biscayne Bay offers a nighttime view of the coastal landscape surrounding Deering Estate. Moonlight Kayak Tour takes place on select Fridays, departing from Charles Deering’s boat basin and paddling toward Chicken Key, a seven-acre mangrove island and bird rookery about one mile offshore. The guided tour is recommended for intermediate paddlers and runs from 7 to 10 p.m.
Participants use tandem kayaks, so tickets are recommended in pairs; single kayakers may be paired with another single participant. The tour is open to adults 18 and older, as well as children ages 9 to 17 accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Guests should wear closed-toe shoes and comfortable clothing that can get wet. Bug spray, snacks and water are recommended, as mosquitoes are common in the area. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted. Tickets are $50 per person and available via Miami-Dade County Parklink with a discount available for Deering Estate Foundation members.
