Noche Cinemundo: The Divine Tragedy

A sudden breakup forces a comfort-loving man to rebuild his life alongside a much younger half-brother whose chaotic habits challenge his need for order. Presented by Noche Cinemundo in partnership with the Miami Film Festival, the screening takes place Tuesday, August 11 at the Koubek Center. The program is also an official OUTshine Film Festival Cocktails & Cinema™ event.

The Spanish-language Mexican dramedy follows Cristian after the abrupt end of his 25-year relationship leaves him without the affluent lifestyle he once knew. Moving in with his half-brother Roy brings cramped quarters, clashing personalities and unresolved family tensions, but the uneasy arrangement gradually opens the possibility of mutual support and a new beginning.

Directed by Sergio Tovar Velarde from a screenplay by Velarde and Orlando Manrique, The Divine Tragedy blends comedy and tenderness in its exploration of unexpected brotherhood, midlife reinvention and starting over. Following the film, attendees can gather for one hour of complimentary cocktails and conversation with fellow moviegoers.
