Novos Baianos
Jul 26, 2025
From: 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM
A pioneering force in Brazilian fusion takes the stage in Miami for a rare and historic performance.
On Saturday, July 26, Os Novos Baianos appear at ZeyZey Miami as part of the Jazz Is Dead concert series presented by Art Don’t Sleep. Known for their genre-blending mix of samba, rock, MPB and frevo, the legendary group makes their long-awaited North American debut nearly six decades after forming in Salvador, Bahia. Their 1972 album Acabou Chorare remains a cornerstone of Brazilian music and was named the greatest Brazilian album of all time by Rolling Stone Brazil.
Emerging during the turbulent years of Brazil’s military dictatorship, Os Novos Baianos became known not only for their eclectic sound but also for their communal lifestyle and spirit of creative resistance. Their arrival in North America marks a milestone in a legacy shaped by collaboration, cultural fusion and joyful rebellion.
The event runs from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. at ZeyZey Miami, a family-friendly venue offering food from local chefs, seasonal craft cocktails, natural wines and non-alcoholic options. All ages are welcome.
