Nu Deco Ensemble feat. Michelle Williams & Special Guests

Orchestral arrangements of funk and holiday music share the program with guest vocalist Michelle Williams in Nu Deco Ensemble’s seasonal concert. The performance takes place Saturday, December 19, at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Knight Concert Hall. Founded in Miami by Jacomo Bairos and Sam Hyken, the ensemble connects contemporary orchestral writing with reinterpretations of popular music and collaborations with guest artists.

The program features the world premiere of a suite drawn from the music of Sly and the Family Stone, alongside Nu Deco’s reimagining of Anderson .Paak’s version of Vince Guaraldi’s “Linus and Lucy.” Hyken’s Chanukah 5776 adds another seasonal work to the evening.

A Grammy-winning member of Destiny’s Child, Williams has also developed a solo recording career that includes the gospel album Journey to Freedom. Her Broadway credits include Aida, Chicago and the original production of Death Becomes Her, in which she played Viola Van Horn.

The concert is recommended for ages 8 and older.
