OperaFest: Miami International Festival of the Voice
Jan 08, 2027 - Jan 10, 2027
Daily through Jan 10, 2027
Starting: 7:30 PM
Opera moves outdoors for three nights of film music, comic opera and cross-genre collaborations at Maurice A. Ferré Park in Downtown Miami. Florida Grand Opera’s OperaFest: Miami International Festival of the Voice runs January 8-10, with each evening offering a different entry point into opera through live voices, orchestra and contemporary musical influences.
The three-night program includes:
- January 8: Opera in the Movies pairs live orchestra and chorus with film scenes, exploring operatic music associated with movies including The Shawshank Redemption and The Godfather.
- January 9: The Barber of Seville presents Rossini’s comic opera, following Figaro as he helps Count Almaviva pursue Rosina while navigating disguises, schemes and the interference of her guardian, Dr. Bartolo.
- January 10: Opera Remix closes the festival with operatic singers collaborating with artists from Latin music, reggae, jazz and electronic dance music.
Presented under the open sky along Biscayne Bay, the festival is designed to introduce opera through familiar stories and sounds while also exploring connections between the classical form and Miami’s broader musical culture.
