Orchids in October

Orchid collectors, home growers and curious beginners can explore plants, expert guidance and conservation work during Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden’s annual orchid weekend. Returning Saturday, October 10 and Sunday, October 11, Orchids in October brings together Fairchild horticulturists, local growers, living collections and an orchid marketplace for two days devoted to cultivation and conservation.

Visitors can browse orchids grown at Fairchild, ask questions about plant care and explore displays including the Tropical Orchid Rainforest, Caribbean Jewels and South Florida Native Orchid Hammock. The weekend also highlights Fairchild’s Million Orchid Project, an urban conservation initiative working to reintroduce native orchids across South Florida.

General admission includes access to the marketplace, orchid collections and exhibits, conservation programming and conversations with growers and Fairchild staff. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, and the event takes place rain or shine.
