Contemporary performance, circus, theater and music converge in a multidisciplinary series exploring gender politics and cultural identity across Miami-Dade County. Out in the Tropics 2026 takes place from Saturday, April 4 through Saturday, April 18 at multiple venues throughout Miami, including Miami Beach.
Presented annually by FUNDarte, the series highlights international artists whose work engages themes of gender, sexuality and social commentary through innovative performance. The 2026 edition features three productions from Canada, Argentina and Mexico, each bringing a distinct theatrical and cultural perspective to the program.
The series opens with SANTÉ! by Quebec-based Cirque Kikasse, an outdoor acrobatic performance staged atop a mobile food-truck set at Pride Park in Miami Beach as part of Miami Beach Pride. Argentine performer Luciano Rosso follows with Apocalipsync, a solo theatrical work blending physical comedy, character performance and lip-sync satire at the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center. The series concludes with La Pluma o la Espada, a music-theater performance by Mexican cabaret artist Astrid Hadad at the Westchester Cultural Arts Center, combining storytelling, music and social critique.
Produced by Miami-based nonprofit FUNDarte, Out in the Tropics is a longstanding performing arts series that brings international artists to South Florida while fostering cross-cultural dialogue and community engagement through experimental and socially engaged work.
