Percussion Consort: A Journey Beyond Time

The New World Symphony Percussion Fellows showcase a dynamic range of musical styles, from traditional to contemporary, on Saturday, September 21. The concert features a performance of African American spirituals by baritone Joshua Conyers, whose "deliciously honeyed baritone" (Opera News) brings classics like Swing Low, Sweet Chariot and Go Down, Moses to life.

The program includes:

• Germaine Tailleferre: Partita, "Hommage à Rameau" - A French modernist piece paying homage to the Baroque composer Jean-Philippe Rameau.
• Gemma Peacocke: Death Wish - A contemporary composition that delves into the complexities of the human experience.
• George Crumb: A Journey Beyond Time, "American Songbook II" - A captivating exploration of American musical heritage.
