Jun 14, 2025
From: 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Take an active role in greening your neighborhood at this free community event centered on environmental resilience and urban beautification. Residents of Gladeview, Brownsville and surrounding areas are invited to receive a native tree or plant and learn how to care for it, while connecting with local leaders dedicated to creating a cooler, greener South Florida.
The Plant/Tree Giveaway in Celebration of Juneteenth takes place Saturday, June 14 at the Marshall Davis African Heritage Cultural Arts Center. Hosted by the T.R.E.E. Leaders Program—part of Citizens for a Better South Florida—the event offers Florida-native and Florida-friendly plants at no cost, along with tree care guidance, heat-reduction strategies and insights on how vegetation can help lower energy costs.
Guests can also view a native orchid installation by Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden, displayed on the center’s grounds. The event is supported by Miami-Dade County’s Office of Resilience and Department of Regulatory and Environmental Resources, with additional partnerships from United Women in Faith and the Greater Miami Service Corps.
